Fisherman's Death

Formed in 2009 by bassist/vocalist Joakim Häggström and guitarist Thomas Lindqvist, Fisherman’s Death takes influences from the likes of Alestorm, Amon Amarth, Iron Maiden, and Swishbuckle and forges its own nautical death driven malevolence which reels in the passions. Completed by rhythm guitarist Nils Löfgren and drummer Filip Krullet Löfgren, the quartet from Umeå first drew attention with their Among The Shore EP of 2010, following it up two years later with debut album The Code. Released via Tmina and Grom Records, Uncharted Waters is the next instalment of the deep, a towering fusion of pirate/folk, and death metal which with captivating ease ignites the senses and imagination.

SODOM - cover and tracklisting for new album revealed!

SODOM - cover and tracklisting for new album revealed!

“The devil is in the detail,” as the old saying goes. Translated to Sodom vocalist/bassist Tom Angelripper’s sharp-tongued and highly critical powers of observation, you might also say: the worst perversions often hide behind seemingly harmless terms. What are we referring to? For example to ‘Katjuscha’, one of twelve hard-as-nails songs which Sodom present on their latest studio album, Epitome Of Torture. After all, Sodom’s ‘Katjuscha’ has little to do with the same-named folk song by Mikhail Isakovsky, but is about the Russian rocket launcher which has been responsible for death and destruction thousandfold. “The Katjuscha has been produced since World War II and is still used today,” the Sodom frontman explains. “It’s been responsible for the death of more people than Stalin’s organ. To name such a deadly weapon after a girl is as grotesque as giving the atom bomb dropped on Hiroshima the code name ‘Little Boy’.” It’s obvious that Sodom 2013 haven’t changed their scornful view of the world, presenting an album in Epitome Of Torture that is as uncompromising as ever in musical as well as lyrical terms. “Unfortunately there’s still plenty of inspiration for angry lyrics around,” says Angelripper.

The bitter thrash metal attack ‘Waterboarding’, which deals with torture methods, fits perfectly into this context. “It always surprises me how inventive – in the most negative sense of the word – people can be when it comes to torturing others,” states the vocalist, who recorded Epitome Of Torture together with guitarist Bernemann and new drummer Markus “Makka” Freiwald. “At the same time, Epitome Of Torture features not only typical Sodom numbers, like the title track, our new hit ‘S.O.D.O.M.’ and ‘Stigmatized’, the toughest Sodom number in ages, but also two or three recordings which are slightly more moderate and melodic than what people have come to expect from us,” Tom Angelripper points out. He is referring to songs such as ‘Cannibal’ and ‘Tracing The Victim’, which allow guitarist Bernemann to present his impressive musical skills, as well as ‘Into The Skies Of War’, on which Angelripper allowed himself to be inspired by icons such as Motörhead and Tank: “Luckily, it’s impossible to hide my influences.”

Epitome Of Torture was produced by Waldemar Sorychta, whose expertise as a sound engineer and audio magician thoroughly benefitted Sodom’s 2010 release In War And Pieces. Tom Angelripper: “Waldemar is an exceptional producer, who always succeeds in evening out an artistŽs weak spot and promoting his strengths. He doesn’t let you get away with anything, he knows all our weak spots. Which occasionally makes working at the studio a little demanding, but at the end of the day it’s all worthwhile, as the result shows.” The Sodom frontman describes the sound on Epitome Of Torture as “hard-as-nails and contemporary, without ignoring our tried-and-tested old-school attitude.”

The new album will be available worldwide through SPV/Steamhammer in four different formats: as a limited-edition DigiPak including two bonus tracks and a poster, in a regular jewel case, as a double gatefold colored vinyl with three bonus tracks and for download. The cover artwork featuring Sodom‘s popular “Knarrenheinz”logo was developed by graphic designer Meran Karanitant, who has caused a stir with his work for Six Feet Under, Hatebreed and Dimmu Borgir, among others.

Release Dates are: Germany April 26th, Europe April 29th and US/Canada May 7th!

HYPOCRISY - End Of Disclosure (2013) VIDEO

HYPOCRISY VIDEO FOR End OF Disclosure

Dave Lombardo…out of SLAYER?

So this official statement has come out today. Dave Lombardo, Slayer’s full time drummer, has been replaced for the upcoming Australian 2013 tour!
I want to personally apologize to all of our fans in Australia who have bought tickets for the tour expecting to see me in my usual place on the drums.
So that you all know the truth, as of the end of the business day on February 14th, I was notified that I would not be drumming for the tour in Australia. I’m saddened, and to be honest I am shocked by the situation.
Last year, I discovered 90% of Slayer’s tour income was being deducted as expenses including the professional fees paid to management, costing the band millions of dollars and leaving 10% or less to split amongst the four of us. In my opinion, this is not the way a band’s business should operate. I tried rectifying it by letting my band mates know, and Tom and I hired auditors to figure out what happened, but I was denied access to detailed information and the necessary back up documents.
I spent the Christmas and New Year holidays realizing I had toured all over the world in 2012, but yet, had not been paid (except a small advance) or provided a proper accounting for a full year’s sweat and blood. On top of this, I was told that I would not be paid until I signed a long form contract which gave me no written assurance of how much or on what basis management would deduct commissions, nor did it provide me access to the financial budgets or records for review. It also forbade me to do interviews or make statements having to do with the band, in effect a gagging order.
Last Monday, I sat down with Kerry and Tom to rehearse for Australia and to propose a new business model that I felt was the best way forward for Slayer to confidently protect itself so we could do what we do best . . . play for the fans. Kerry made it clear he wasn’t interested in making changes and said if I wanted to argue the point, he would find another drummer. On Thursday, I arrived at rehearsals at 1 pm as scheduled, but Kerry did not show. Rather, at 6:24 pm I received an email from the lawyers saying I was being replaced for the Australian dates.
I remain hopeful that we can resolve our issues. But once again, I sincerely apologize to all of our fans in Australia who spent their money expecting to see the 3 of us original Slayer members.
I look forward to seeing you in the future.
Sincerely,
Dave Lombardo

Big time bummer. Not only for Dave Lombardo, but for Slayer as a whole. One of the biggest bands in the world only sees 10% of their earnings? That’s a load of shit. Not to mention Kerry King’s reaction to Dave seems a little odd. Are they hiding anything from Lombardo?
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen Lombardo not perform with Slayer. I’ll keep you posted if anything else surfaces.

Weekands Band NEGATOR

Band for the week is Negator
Lets start with some info!

- This Black Metal Was Forged In The Unholy Halls Of The Eternal Frost –

Under that very banner this Black Metal-Machine – the Negator – was once forged in the year of 2003. Mastermind Trolfbert (Guitar) was eagerly focusing on putting his vision of extreme Black Metal into action. He found Nachtgarm (Vocals), Tramheim (Battery) and Berthelm (Bass) as proper comrade-in-arms.
As the music of the debut OLD BLACK (2004) did speak volumes, it did not take long until the album was properly released one year after Negator‘s founding. Press and fans alike pretty much showed similar praise of the debut’s spirit, which made OLD BLACK turn into a success story pretty much.

- Lined up to create values – made to be indispensable! -

Enlivened by the debut’s success, the four-piece was hardly interested in a creative break. At that very point in time, the ensemble had found its musical focus and direction. The slogan „Angetreten, um Werte zu schaffen – Gemacht, um unentbehrlich zu sein“ (Engl.: „Lined up to create values – made to be indispensable!“ from ʻEisen Wider Siechtumʼ) was not only going to be the Negator-credo, but also the headline for their successful second album DIE EISERNEN VERSE (2005), which was again received very much enthusiastically by critics and fans alike. In order to promote the album additionally „on the road“, Negator went on a co-headlining tour for some weeks with Koldbrann.
However, in life different people sometimes have a different approach towards certain things. There are those who want to stop at an alleged peak, whereas others strive for total domination. Trolfbert – founder of Negator – was of the opinion that he had already voiced the ultimate statement with regard to extreme Black Metal with the first two Negator-albums. He and the fellows on the instruments left in order to re-activate their old Melodic Black Metal-Band Pantheion. Consequently, it was frontman Nachtgarm that was left behind. In an amicable man-to-man talk Trolfbert handed over the Negator-Sceptre to Nachtgarm, who, from now on, was not only in charge concerning all things Negator, but also the force behind this Black Metal-Panzer from Hamburg, Germany.
But: No companions, no band. And it must have been a mix of prevision and luck, that at the end of 2006, Nachtgarm and Finnskald (formerly Drautran) crossed each other’s path. Immediately, they found themselves on the same wavelength. This blind mutual understanding was going to be headstone for Negator’s future: Finnskald and Nachtgarm are the congenial songwriting-duo for Negatorʼs vision of extreme Black Metal.

- Panzer Metal – You Better Be Ready! –

And the new spirit still can be second to none – two people still don’t make a powerful armada. After a few line-up changes, Finnskald and Nachtgarm were finally able to recruit Samebrann (Drums), Kliffjård (Guitar) und Harlegrim (Bass) as additional armoured infantrymen. That new brooms sweep clean was impressively shown with the new Negator-chapter – PANZER METAL (2010). Finnskald and Nachtgarm untimely crowned the Negator with regards to song-writing at that point in time. „PANZER METAL is the ultimate answer for those, who long for extreme and hard Black Metal, which offers a 90s spirit but is delivered in a 21st century sound and features state-of-the-art firepower.“ This is as Band-General Nachtgarm sees it. And it was this blaze the scene was waiting for. And although Negator were literally away for almost five years, the manifest PANZER METAL provided nothing but awe. Consequently, requests for gigs and festival appearances were soon to follow. Besides numerous single- and weekend-shows Negator played the Metalfests in 2010.
However, the most successful year in the Negator-history so far was 2011. With a lot of tailwind provided by PANZER METAL the Negator bulldozed popular festivals such as the Eisenwahn Festival, the With Full Force as well as the famous Wacken Open Air among others.
That a good name as well as continuously good performances produce interest from other, bigger names, did experience vocalist Nachtgarm in the same year. No one less than Sweden’s Black Metal-Kings Dark Funeral signed Nachtgarm as their new vocalist. Without a doubt an honour for Nachtgarm and his work and, of course, an honour for Negator as well. However, from the very first day one thing was crystal clear: Negator will of course continue to exist WITH Nachtgarm at the helm of duties and the Panzer will continue to do his work: To scorch and annihilate the world with extreme Black Metal Negator-style.

- Negator – The Bringer Of War -

It goes without saying that Nachtgarm’s new obligations with Dark Funeral made him busier than before. Consequently, Negator utilized the break from live-obligations for continuous writing, composing and arranging new material comprising the eagerly awaited successor of PANZER METAL. Since the contract with Negator’s old label had expired, the band and its Management went on searching for a new home. The band was looking for a company that thoroughly shared the band’s vision. Some labels showed interest, but the acceptance of bid was given to the small, bit high-class German label Viva Hate Records (Der Weg Einer Freiheit among others). However, this is not enough with positive highlights in 2012: Since bassist Harlegrim left the band due to lack of interest (and surely left a gap to fill), the band was more than happy to find a great replacement within a comparatively short period of time. Be it luck, coincidence or chance – or the devil’s wish – Negator are proud to announce Hjalmort as the new man for bass duties. Hjalmort is not only a person who fits very well into the band’s structure, but who has also gained his reputation through his longtime duties as the lead singer of fellow Hamburgian Extreme Metal outfit Todtgelichter. The change was executed on amicable terms and by mutual agreement. Hjalmort is now returning to his musical homeland: Black Metal.

Since Negator want back to the future with this new and invigorated team, it goes without saying that it will not take another five years to release a new master piece. Consequently, it will leave all Negator-Fans filled with joy, when they learn that Negator have booked studio time for December 2012. As with their previous records Negator will again enter Hammer Audio Studios with their friend, fan und long-time fellow Eike Freese (Gamma Ray, Negator, Callejon, Dark Age, Neopera among others).

The highly anticipated fourth album will see the black of the world in spring 2013 and will – again – take no prisoners. The Panzer keeps on rolling relentlessly, even though there will be some surprises. Expect nothing but a great Negator-Album.
And it will be that very year – 2013 – when the Negator will see his 10th anniversary. And after one decade of raging, extreme Black Metal one thing still applies:

- Lined up to create values – made to be indispensable! -

Fisherman's death a long travel !

Fisherman's death a long travel !
Many have heard the band but not many know how it all began!
so today we give you the full story!

Fisherman's Death Is a metal band from Northern Sweden, Umeå. has a very original theme, sailor theme. Fisherman's Death was founded in winter 2009 by Thomas Linqvist and Joakim Häggström when they used an old distortion pedal which they plugged straight into the computer and recorded using midi Drums. The theme comes from the burning interest in fishing as well as the band parts to Fisherman's Death live on the coast in the north of sweden, Umeå. In the summer of 2010 they pulled up sharply when the guitarist Nils Lövgren, bassist Daniel Innala and drummer Oskar Sukki joined band. Fisherman's Death released their first EP in autumn 2010 and just one year after the first full length album was done entitled The Code, after some live shows in Umeå, the band parted ways with their drummer and bassist, leaving only Joakim, Thomas, and Nils left, a year went by and things where quit. In the early days of 2012 the band announced that they were still alive and working on new material for their EP now entitled Uncharted Waters. Also it was clear that that the same night they were out partying at shores Jocke was out walking at Nydala drunk and ran into filip who was sitting at a park bench drinking and asked if he played music… 6 months later we called him up and he Became our new drummer.. and this leads us to a few gigs around Umeå best that comes to date was Kulturnatta in Umeå 2012  really good show!, also first show with new line up,
And here we are a year later stronger than ever what’s new is our promo Uncharted waters will be released by Serbian Extreme Metal label Grom/Tmina Records in February 2013, so that’s pretty much what’s going on in the fish camp, we are also now working on full length, for 2013 so stay hooked!!!

EXTIRPATION "Reverse the Reality" what a magic album!!

EXTIRPATION "Reverse the Reality" what a magic album!!
after few seconds right into the songs the weekend is saved,
EXTIRPATION is a band that mixes thrash and black metal really old school type of black metal,
just by listing to some of their tracks you really get the feel of what they  stand for!
I never been a fan of mixing styles to much but I must say this band really does it good.
The songs are rich of both classic thrash riffs mixed with a more feel that reminds me of black roll thrash like Vreid from Norway,
II myself am a huge black metal fan but also a huge thrash metal fan and the album "Reverse the Reality" is what I call a strong album, the songs have been well written perfect length for party and stuff,
very good clarity on the album the drum sound like a mix of early Slayer and Kreator while the riffs are much darker and less melodic the vocals are harsh and very evil indeed, the sound reminds me of norways black metal bands in 91 92,
So I am sure this band will do great! and we wish them the best!
