Solacide interview 2012
1 Could you tell us abit about the band! the history behind it
Gökhan: The band was founded under the name Dim Moonlight by Kimmo and Masa in 1996. The band released two demos and had several line up changes during the years. They decided to change the name of the band to Solacide in 2004. Bass guitarist Sami and other guitarist Joonas joined the band in 2005 and they recorded “Waves of Hate” demo during November-December 2005. I moved to Finland around 2008-April and I joined the band. We recorded “Baptized in Disgust” EP a few weeks after I joined Solacide. Kimmo was planning to do the vocals as he did on previous recordings if I would not have joined the band. We released the “Baptized in Disgust” EP around February 2009. That’s shortly how it is.
2 What is currently happening in the band
Kimmo: At the moment we are doing pre-productions of the new songs. We usually do demo versions of all the songs before we go do a proper studio recording of them. After the songs are finished, we will start planning the recording of the full-length album. Otherwise we´re having a small break from doing gigs. And we are also planning to release a re-recorded version of Waves of Hate -demo, we weren´t very pleased with the sounds in the 2006 recording.
3 If you could tour with any band you haven't who would it be ?
K: If it could be any band, I´d choose Emperor or Morbid Angel. But basically I´m not picky of the bands that we are doing gigs, as long as they´re music would be around the same genres that we are inspired by.
G: I would love to tour with those bands that Kimmo mentioned. Additionally, it would also be awesome to tour with Watain, Behemoth, Mayhem or Meshuggah.
4 Aside from touring what are you hobbies apart from music
K: I do jogging and a bit of cross-country running to keep in shape, otherwise it´s all about music.
5 Where do you take your inspiration lyric wise ?
K: From life in general. Some lyrics, especially the older ones deal about your own emotions. New stuff is more about how this life and world works, how corrupted everything is. I like that people get their own views to the lyrics and not to explain them too much.
6 what are you plans for the summer any shows coming up ?
G: As Kimmo mentioned before we will not have any gigs for a period of time. Of course we could play gigs if there would be offer. But especially nowadays we are more concentrated on doing the full length album and getting it out. We will do lots of gigs for promoting the debut album when it is out.
8 What is your favorite song to play live ?
K: Probably Disgust and Your Worst Enemy, they´re the most progressive songs so they´re fun to play. Also I can´t wait to get to play the new songs live.
G: Last Breath of God, Disgust, God on Fire, Nothing Weak Survives are my favorite ones to perform.
9 Do you ever listen or take into account to what the fans are saying about the bands and to what degree does that responds influence you
K: Response doesn´t influence our way of making music. When I write songs, it comes out quite naturally, I don´t think what kind of style should I do now. Of course when you have began writing some song, of course it has a certain mood in it, and you want to keep that theme during the song. But basically we write music what has "our" kind of feeling in it.
10 What are your favorite bands
K: Morbid Angel, Akercocke, Emperor, Devin Townsend/SYL, Megadeth, Iron Maiden, Symphony X, Meshuggah, Deicide, Sentenced, just to mention a few.
G: Well, there are many to count... Urgehal, Mayhem, Dissection, Watain, Tsjuder, Beastcraft, Marduk, Behexen, Craft, Shining,Thunderbolt, Cannibal Corpse,Behemoth, Slayer, Sodom, Deicide, Morbid Angel, Meshuggah, Emperor, Septic Flesh,etc. The list can be pretty long so I stop here.
11 Are you planing on releasing any new material soon?
K: The goal is to start recording the full-length album during this year, so it should be out in 2013. We´ve got some offers from labels, but we haven´t signed anything yet, cause we want to check out if there will be other offers coming up.
12 How would you catalog Baptized in Disgust ?
K: It´s very progressive and aggressive, but still there´s quite a bit of melody. Even though it´s just an EP, you need to listen to it few times before it starts to open. But that´s what our music is about, progressive with full of different emotions.
13 Do you like any new bands in black death scene ?
G: There are so many cool bands. I try to follow the underground black / death scene as much as I can do. It would be a long list to mention all the new bands I like.
14 Any last words to your fans :)

Thanks for taking time to answer my questions it’s a real honor!
1 How was the tour? Did you guys get along great?
We did a Balkan tour with the Polish band Christ Agony in april/may witch was
really awesome. We were support act for the legendary Asphyx! It was our second tour in the Balkans, first tour was in
2010 with Negura Bunget, and the people
there are really great.
2 What is currently
happening in Daemonicus
We just released our second full length album,
entitled “Deadwork” thru the
American based company Abyss Records. And we are starting to book some shows
for 2013.
3 Aside from Daemonicus
what are your interest?
Besides our families we all got different musical side
projects that we play in. Sanity of Impiety, Hate Ammo and Flagellant to
mention a few.
4 How has the response been
to the new album so far?
The response has been really great! And we are very
pleased with the whole production on this album. We recorded everything accept
the drums in our own C.C.H.B. studio and Ronnie Björnström did the mix and
master. We recorded our EP “11 th
Hour” in our own studio as well and that is something that works really
great for us. To have the possibility to let the album develop in the
studio.
5 Any particularly shows
you are looking forward more to?
We are always looking forward to play live! To meet
all the metal heads out there and party is really why we do our music. We just
been confirmed to play at the House of Metal festival 2013 and that I am really
looking forward to.
6 You recently was booked
for a Swedish festival House of metal how does it feel to be able to play along
big names like Tankard Mayhem etc?
Yeah, as I said we are really looking forward to play
there. Last time we played at the House of Metal was in their first year 2007
and since then the festival just keep on growing! And it´s in our home city so
it´s always something special to play there.
7 Are you guys still
rocking with your same endorsement or is there any new brands in Daemonicus
We pretty much use the same gear but we are always
open for suggestions, hahaha!
8 Are there any new places
you would like visit for 2013 ?
Yes we are planning a Western European tour for 2013
so I am looking forward to that. Stay tuned for more info about that!
9 ? Final Question do you
have any message to your fans?
Just listen to the fucking metal and we see you guys

Hello, hope all is well?First I want to thank you for taking the time to answer my questions
1 What's happening in your life music wise? I heard that you recently returned from tour with Dark Funeral at Kings of black metal, how was the show?
Hi! The gig at the Kings of Black Metal was great. Even though the organization was a little uncontrolled, we had a lot of fun.
2 In addition to playing in your band Negator you are also a member of sanguineus and King fear can you tell us about those bands?
Sanguineus was originally formed as under the banner of MARBAS in 1996. Later we changed the name to SANGUINEUS. It was and still is my first band which had public success. In 2001 we released our first record called”Bloodstained”. Due to personal reasons we split-up in 2004. Now, almost 8 years later, I reformed the band to record the second CD. All the songs we’ve written back in the days and never have been recorded are far too important to not record them and to let them die in oblivion.King Fear is a project which was founded by Mål Dæth in 2011. He asked me if I want to do the vocals and after I had heard what he has written, I was in for it! On the 25th of May our first EP will be unleashed on Mankind!
3 How does it feel to play in Dark Funeral one of the greatest black metal bands in the world
It feels great. Sometimes I have those moments where I cannot really believe, that I’m a part of this band. I grew up listening to them and now I’m a part of them. It is a dream coming true!4 If you could tour with any band you haven't who would it be?Pantera! (R.I.P. Dimebag)5 Aside from touring what are you hobbies apart from music?
Well... I have a lot of things to keep me busy but I would say cooking is one of my favorites. Especially for friends or beloved ones. Besides that I’m really into gaming (PS3, XBOX) and I love to go out to the beach or just chill wherever I can.6 Do you find it difficult to Rehears with the bands because you are spread out when example dark funeral live in Sweden and you live in GermanyNot at all. We are all professional musicians and because of that it just works. Of course we rehears here and then, but mainly I learn the songs on my own, while the band is rehearsing in Sweden. I know my stuff, they know their stuff. We meet, we play, we kick ass. Perfect!
7 What is currently up in Negator? Any new album on the wayYes! That’s why it is so quite at the moment. We’re focusing on the new record which will be one big step forward for us personally and music-wise. On the 10th of December we’ll enter the Studio once again. I can’t wait to unleash this beast. 8 What is your favorite song to play live with Negator?There are a few songs I really love to play live, but to pick my top 3 I would say:”Alte Werte”,”Eisen wider Siechtum” and”Gloomy Sunday”
9 Do you ever listen or take into account to what the fans are saying about the bands and to what degree does that response influence youOf course I do. I always try to read every comment, mail or whatsoever; we are getting from our fans, regardless of which band is involved. It’s not easy to keep up with everyone and every opinion, but for example I always go into the crowd after or before a concert to talk to know how they felt with my/our performance. I like constructive criticism and I think it is really important to listen to the fans. Of course you have a few haters everywhere, but those keep me even more trying!

First of i would like to Thank you for taking time to answer my questions No problem at all !!
1 Could you tell us a bit about the band! the history behind it.
Jeroen: Izegrim started way back in 1996. I won’t bother your readers with all the line-up changes and demo’s we’ve released, would become a bit boring I’m afraid, haha. Since the beginning we’ve had a grunting female on vocals. For us it’s pretty normal, new listeners could consider us a copycat of Arch Enemy. We’re simply not, we started with female grunts way before Angela came to Arch Enemy. Furthermore, our music is not that polished and tends to lean more towards the thrashy side of the metal-spectrum. Important features: Versatile songs, yet a coherent and balanced cd that should be listened to as one piece. We’ve done our best to write a diversified cd, not just songs on 230 bpm. On top of that we used more leads and melody compared to previous records. Major influences for us are At The Gates, Carcass, Kreator, Legion of the Damned to name a few. Performing live is our greatest passion. We are not the kind of people that stay backstage all day at a festival, so if you want to drink a beer with us and we play somewhere near you; chances are good to catch us somewhere in the audience, haha !
2 What is currently happening in the band Jeroen : At the moment we are very busy writing new material. 2013 we want to release the sequal of Code of Consequences. Furthermore we are preparing for a European tour with Onslaught. This will all take place in september/oktober 2012. Really looking forward to go on tour with these UK thrash-titans !
3 If you could play with any band you haven't who would that be ?
Jeroen : SSSSSLAAAAAAAYER !!! Hahahaha. Exodus, Lamb Of God, Kreator or Anthrax would do the trick too (as well as a shitload of other bands).
4 Aside from music what are you hobbys apart from music ?
Jeroen : Drinking beer, going to festivals and riding my motorbike. Pretty standard stuff for a metalhead I guess, hehe.
5 Where do you take your inspiration to your lyrics / music
Jeroen : This is not a real concept album, where the lyrics tell a story from A to Z. There is a main subject within the lyrics; the older we get, the more actions we have taken, the more consequences you have to bear. It’s about reaching your (personal) goals by any means. This could relate to selfish behaviour, killing your beloved ones or even creating your own secret organisation to fulfil your needs. Lyrics are important, but we’re not the kind of band that wants to deliver a certain message. We stay away from war-related topics (heard them too often) and politics.
6 Are you planing on releasing any new material soon?
Jeroen : Yes, as mentioned before,
we are currently working on a new album. We have a pretty packed schedule. We want to take our time for the new album. It simply takes a lot of effort to shape the songs into a final version, we are not satisfied that easily. Our goal is to release a new album somewhere in the second half of 2013.
7 Do you like any new bands in the metal scene ?
Jeroen : Haven’t seen any real new exciting bands recently. I go to concerts as often as I can (almost once a week) but as far as NEW bands I havent been flabbergasted lately.
8 what where some your influences while writing Code of Consequences ? Jeroen: It’s a mix of personal preferences of all the bandmembers. Musically we find our influences in bands like At The Gates, Carcass, Kreator, Legion of the Damned to name a few. But also Cannibal Corpse or even Nevermore can be listed with these names.
10 How has people reacted due there not many female fronted bands in this type of genre ? Jeroen : To be honest, we don’t notice that people react differently to us, compared with a male-fronted band. We always preach that we are NOT a female-fronted band, we are simply a metalband, that’s it. Female fronted (in my opinion) has more to do with Delain and Within Temptation. Sure, we have a woman on vocals, but often I think she has bigger balls than some guys in the scene, haha.
11 How was peoples respons to 'Code of Consequences' ? Jeroen : Looking back (it’s been a while since we’ve released the record) we are very pleased with all the enthousiastic reactions. Both from the fans (the most important for us) as well as the reviews from the media. We’ve worked our asses off for that album and it’s good to know that 95% of the people like the new stuff.
12 Any plans for the summer? Jeroen : We have to play a lot of gigs in july, august, september and october. Perhaps a little holiday in between. And I’m sure we will visit some summerfestivals this year !
13 Any last words to your fans and friends ? Jeroen : Ah, the famous last words ! Thanks for your time and interest in Izegrim. If you catch us at a gig, don’t be shy and drink a beer with us. Cheers !

Negator - Gates to the Pantheon 10/10 A masterpiece
First off I was very excited about their new album!once I got a hold of the digital copy I just had to put it on right away!my first impression was it was mind blowing from the first track it opens up heavy aggressive and fast.
I can really feel the power of the music!I have been a big fan of the band of quite a while since when I discovered Panzer metal,I must say the new album has every element that I love about black metal, all melancholic tremolo picking , and the aggressive fast dark chords, also Nachtgarm's vocals is just mind blowing. every verse is 100 % you feel in every bit of the songs.each song has its own charm like a curse waiting to be unleashed.I am just about 3 track into the cd and I feel like have to buy the official cd this is really some crazy shit!the track Epiclesis start off quite slow
reminding you of a behemoth song almost!, but bursts of in amazing atmosphere the two guitar players Finnskald and Kliffjård plays brilliant together like razors cutting in the wind, they create an evil force together,
I can say my favorite track has to be the serpents court. moving along the battle filed
the bringer of war is on, the opening gives me chills due to its dark sound, am not sure how to describe the song without being an understatement, lets just say if this was compeared to slayers raning blood it would be 8/10 in Negator. Thats how good I think it is.
Negator knows how to create a good feeling in the air, with the track The last Sermon opens up with killer timing.. echos vocals which I really dig dark minor riffing almost close to dark funeral or behemoth.I know that black metal is tricky to create but negator has really made their own imprint on the sound.a lot of songs feels like they could have been of Behemoth's album Evangelion, in other words its a amazing...I can feel that they have a lot of influence of the death metal map, I would say this album is like a perfect blend of black metal and blackend Death metal close to Belphegor,for any fan of this genre is album will be a blast!we give it 10/10
