Mor dagor interview 2015

First i like to thank you for doing this

interviewand may i say the new song is sounding killer!

How are you doing?

1 could you tell us the story how Mor dagor came to be?

Torturer: Too long…We started in 1996. after endless Lineup changes we are where we are now.

2 Your new album is called Redemeer

how did the writing process look like comparing to previous record!?

Lykanthrop: We all basically started to collect ideas for this album back in

2011. The more ideas we had, the more intense we started to shape the

songs. Torturer and I locked ourselves up in the rehearsal-bunker and

worked on every detail until we were 100% satisfied with the result.

Schmied then added his lyrics to the final songs.

3 What were some of your inspiration when crafting this beautiful beast?

Torturer: Everything surrounding us.

4 How was the studio session this time around!?

Torturer: It had been one of the fastest productions we ever did. drums had been recorded in only one day. alsoguitars.
Lykanthrop: Preparation, dedication and discipline are the keys!

hows 2015 looking for you guys any big tours coming up?

Schmied: Until now there some special shows and we´re working on a

european tour in autumn.

6 you recently announced you will be joining Austrian titians belphegor in

helvete club are you guys looking forward to that?

must be special for torturer since he is known from playing in the band for a

long time?

Torturer: its great to meet my old bandmates again. we had a great time together. i am in contact with them anyway.

7 Your new album is soon to drop from the void into the earthly dimension

will there be any special editions of the. album for those daywalkers who

don't know?

Lykanthrop: We announced already a Mor-Dagor-Machete-package limited

to 66 pieces. It includes the digipack-CD or Vinyl edition, together with a

real machete with the MOR DAGOR print, along with some other cool stuff.

Lets talk about more music related stuff

8 how often do the band meet up and rehearse together?

Lykanthrop: At least once a week, twice is the optimum.

9 I ask this alot and people seem to still like

so if you could tour with any band whom

Lykanthrop: Any non-sissy motherfuckers will do! There are lots of great

bands out there but also a lot of scum.

--------------------------

10 your artwork is pretty different from many album covers in the past

years what was your inspiration for the cover and who did it!?

I like it clear clean simple and effective!

Schmied: We wanted to create something pure and clean. Furthermore it’s

the embodiement of death and the beginning of a new era of warfare. So is

our music.

All artworks were done by us in association with Necroworks.

11 how would you describe yourself as a band in a studio

are you the person who is a total control freak want to see what everyone is

doing while in the studio and more or less let the producer do his thing and

trust his words?

Lykanthrop: We enter the studio very well prepared. The entire album is

written from the first to the last note before we start recording and everyone

involved practices his part intensly for that. Working with Andy Classen

though was great! He’s a great producer and his input on the music was well apprechiated.

Torturer: I am a control freak in this case. everythingmust be prepared and arranged. we did pre-production for ourself to see what we can improve.

12 could you briefly walk us through your live rig ?

Lykanthrop: Since we want to come as close to the studio sound as possible,

I currently use my Jackson RRMG pro with a modified EMG-81 pickup. On

my side i use a Peavey 6505+ with which I also recorded all guitars on the

album. 2nd guitar plays over a modified Peavey Valve King. Beliath plays

bass over an old Peavey Mark VI amp - it gives us just the right mixture

between low end and dirty attack we need. The tuning is E-Standard, though

the B-string on the bass is tuned down to A. Goes right into your guts!

Torturer: I use Pearl BRX and sabian cymbals, Demon drive pedal and and 5bx Pro mark sticks.

13 Talking about studio work

what is your idea of the best work flow do you guys stay in the studio more

or less until the album is completely written both pre prod and final end

(meaning do you spend a year or maybe a few weeks)

or do you write from your own base And then enter with full pre

production!?

Schmied: As Lykanthrop pointed out earlier, the whole album is completely

written and we already made a pre-production which Andy got some weeks

before the studio so he could get a grip on it. Then we enter the studio and

spend as much time as possible there to work on details

-----------------------

14 favourite drink? non or with alcohol

Himalaya ice water

15 Do you prefair festivals or clubs ?

Torturer: doesn’t matter. both is great!

16 finally what can we expect for 2015 from Mor dagor:)

Lykanthrop: No Mercy!

Thank you so much for taking the time to answer the questions!

all the best and talk soon!

Dead December - Will Death Reunite us

Dead December  - Will Death Reunite us

Last time I had this band on the speakers was early 2015 if i remember correctly,
of course the band is still kind enough to let me have a listen to the stuff.
in its wholeness !
the new songs has a slower more atmospheric feel
with a nice classic touch!, in many ways I can hear early Cradle of filth influences !
not just because I now and then have to remember and remind myself that its not Dani filth himself singing!

The album has a lot more softer feel perhaps then some might enjoy but still it gives what it meant a kind of classical symphonic rockish type of feel very progressive!
stuff! maybe not my exact cup of tea.
But they do get the idea and are able to give us a good atmosphere in the songs!
distorted guitars with nice piano melodies!
its a very sad album in many ways, many slower songs with lots of progressive elements that really creates a very hopeless feel!

Although I must state that Fridas vocals on the older songs or rather first released songs are more of my cup of tea but Fridas vocals really brings out a lot emotions into the songs!
I guess I am more for the heavier and more straight forward songs! like the ep Awaiting messiah
'i never been a fan of progressive stuff to be honest! , The songs are of course well made nothing to complain! its a whole good production.
But I do miss the female vocals a lot on the other songs also more double bass drumming! like the song Aurora. The band is solid in the way that they are clearly aware of all but it just gets a bit to slow for my taste with the newer songs.

I am sure those who are into progressive or more rockish heavy metal would enjoy this more , not saying its bad but I am not the right person to judge!

thats my opinion! Overall I'd give this album a good spin now and then! And mabye it will grow on me!

Dark funeral - Nail them to the cross [SINGLE 2015 ]

Dark funeral is back stronger than ever
with their new highly anticipated single Nail them to the cross and Temple of Ahriman
this single is is pure beautiful magic in itself!
the title track Nail them to the cross delivers like one can expect but with a slower beginning tempo sort of leading up to the big bomb!
Ahriman knows what he's doing !
the song is has a very catchy riffs and kinda sinister
appeal!
the songs rages on with crushing speed and clarity this time it's Daniel Bergstrand from Dogour studios! behind the wheel!
and you can tell its much heavier the mix is tight and crushing!
the drums sounds very natural , as always I am impressed by Dominators drumming! insanely fast blasts !
the master of grind!
Nail them to the cross is not just new in itself it also shows the vocal styles of Their new singer! Heljarmadr as the new member along with bass player Natt!
The other track is Temple of Ahriman
I remeber I was very interested in hearing it! as Lord Ahriman described it!
and when I finally got to hear it! it was really beyond amazing
I mean if you liked In my Dreams and My Funeral , Temple of Ahriman is above all!
other , its like My funeral on steriods ! really that brutal!
the chorus on each song  sings so well inside your head like  you would hear it!
you can't stop singing Nail them to the cross!  or Welcome to the Temple of Ahriman
Dark funeral is indeed exploring new areas! darker than before!
Temple of ahriman is a beautiful melancholic sinister piece!

 Heljarmadr vocals are beyond amazing
they are purely satan inside!
high pitched screams to deep guttral vocals
that would impress even any death metal fan! its not room enough to describe how awsome and awated this new single is! just a true work of magic!
I remeber seeing Ahriman leaving small clues and photos from his home recording and just imagnining how it would sound all done!
and all I can say is so far this is beyond any of my expectations! And the new album will crush all mortality !
and nail them all to the cross!

DARK FUNERAL 2015 is: Lord Ahriman (Guitars) | Chaq Mol (Guitars) | Dominator (Drums) | Heljarmadr (Vocals) | Natt (Bass)

LIDELSE - Interview

1 For those who are new to the band how would you
describe the band to a totally new face! ?
98759: We are a three piece band from Sweden, Austria and the United States who use music to convey our thoughts and feelings when facing the absurd and bittersweet condition of life.
2 How did the band form?
98759: I was looking to form a new project after my previous band Imago Metus dissolved. I approached W with the idea and he agreed. A few months after I met Vatra and saw how beautifully and deeply she wrote and I knew immediately that her words had to be apart of Lidelse. So I asked her if she wanted to share and help bring the vision of this to life. And luckily she agreed to join us.
3 What is the prime source of influences in your music ?
98759: For me my prime source of influence is the world and city around me and how it makes me feel. Distance, longing, yearning makes me feel awful and so I try to convey these feelings in my writings and in my voice. Also the feeling of alienation and loneliness. Aside from the feelings inside of me Literature also plays an influence.
4 If you had to rename the band what would be your first choice?
98759: I wouldn’t
5 What are you current plans for 2015?
98759: So far it is just working on our debut full length album.
6 There are talks about you colaborating with legendery Kim Carlsson Could you care to elaborate on that comment ?
98759: Kim created our logo for us. And he is also helping us create an album design and layout for our debut full length. He has also supported us by putting his work and our work on his website and tumblr blog. But this is it. He has been extremely helpful and supportive.
7 Best advice to young musicans
98759: I suppose the only advise I could give is just create your music for you. And dont try to fit into a scene or doing it to be cool or popular. Everyone will crtisize you for what you do no matter what it is. But their words mean nothing. Just go for it and dont give up ever no matter how life makes it seem difficult.
8 Favorite time of the year?
98759: Autumn/Winter. I love the snow.
9 What are the most important aspects of your music! Lyrics or music !
98759: No aspect is more important than the other. As far as I am concerned without the music my words and voice would be nothing.
10 How has the response overall been to the band ?
98759: So far the response has seemed to be good from my end. People seem to like what we do.
11 What inspire you as an artist ?
98759: In an earlier question I answered what influences me in the music we create and I would say that is also my inspiration as an artist. The city and the feelings it suffocates me with. Life, distance and things like Literature and film also inspire me.
12 if you were to describe the sound of Lidelse what words comes to mind?
98759: Cold, dark, tragic and hurtful. Unfair is also a word I could use.
13 What do you think of the current metal scene ?
98759: I really dont have too many thoughts about it. It is something I dont really care to belong to.
14 What are your thoughts on downloading ?
98759: I have always been a supporter of downloading. For me as a kid growing up it helped me get exposed to albums and artists easier. And from there it made me want to buy and support the artists I liked so I bought alot of albums and shirts. It helped me find the artists that I enjoyed and avoid the ones I didnt. Plus I personally think that exposure is more important these days. Even if one is opposed to this there is no way to avoid it happening. I would hate for someone to spend money on what I do and hate it. I would want them to support us and buy our stuff because they want to see more of us. This is a subject that could go on but I digress. Also this is just my personal opinion and should not reflect the band itself and the two amazing people who have made this possible.
15 You mentioned that you have a label deal with Self Mutilation services how did that deal come about ?
98759: We just wrote to labels and gave demos to many different labels. Self Mutilation was one who offered us the best deal. Only three labels in total gave us an answer. One couldnt fit us in and the other had a later offer than Self Mutilation. So we were very fortunate they wanted to help us. I am grateful for any label who wants to help us.
16 -any last words to friends and fans ?

98759: Thank you for taking in interest in us and supporting us.

Dead December Awaiting messiah !

Dead december is out again and what more fitting since it is end of december!
new tunes sounds wicked!
first track Aurora brings some really heavy mix between carach angren synth and classic heavy metal tones...
the song latches on with its heavy riffs! descending into a very melodic ghost kinda rocky type of song!
the singer caught me off guard quite a few times,
not only the way but the fact he is able to reach the exact vocals tones as Dani filth utilizes
which for me is awesome!

the song has a serious beautiful melodi along with hammering drums and chugging guitars... very epic solos... perfect feel nor to fast nor to slow..
as we decent back into the next track
we are straight away feeling the kind of early rock feel really like Ghost
I think  it reminds me.
deep growling vocals pentrates your mind like spears of shiva...
power metalish guitar riffs working their way as the keybord re appars beautifuly !
The songs has a nice flow really,
perfect headbanging material most of the time...
some parts sounds a bit doom metal influenced,
not sure what other will think! but I personally am looking forward to the new album!
when I listen more to the songs I feel more Cradle of filth feel over the guitar riffs...
I am sure both Cradle and the band would be pleased!
with this release,
due check out Dead December nice metal band from Sweden!
and have a listen to their new songs below!

Sick guitars Volume III 2014

What you all been waiting for sick guitars is back! every month now and then we pick out the latest sickest  most twisted guitars ! you've ever seen,
we will be picking out 5 guitars that we find out of the ordinary from small to big brands!

first up!
The V from Ophelia guitar works!
private builder mainly  for fun !
but this is some serious wicked guitar!

Next up is this lovely 8 string guitar from Blackat guitars!
no name has been confirmed nor model but its a good looking !

Next up is the Roeller’s Custom Guitars again making a return! Warbird D7, Ed Talorda of Disgorge this guitar is what I'd label as sick guitar!

Moving on to the Ran Guitars Batman Banshee in Avalon images

And last but not least an oddly beast is upon us!

With the Monster Hunter franchise from Capcom gearing itself up to celebrates its 10th anniversary, a simple cake with some candles on it will not do. No sir, it would need something that is far more hard hitting, but to celebrate one’s decade in existence with a guitar might seem to be rather unorthodox. ESP Guitars has modeled an axe on a sword, which so happens to be the in-game Rathalos Firesword, will be the accessory that celebrates the 10th anniversary of Monster Hunter.
